So two and a half years ago me and the hubby bought this which I thought was workable at the time until two months later and all the paint on the cabinets was peeling off and the glorious laminate was not sticking anymore it actually looks not too bad in this pic but the gold knobs and the entire house painted in the same white paint was driving me nuts so I painted 5 months pregant nothing was going to stop me from getting ride of the boring white walls but I was so stumped on my kitchen so I went looking on the internet of course for idea's I have this crazy obsession for black furniture and as my mother in says if you stand still long enough Dee Dee my spray paint you. I started my search for pictures of black kitchen cabinets and that's when I feel in love with The Lettered Cottage Layla and Kevin's kitchen inspired me and now over a year later I have my kitchen finished welllllll.............it may never be done something differant come to mind or some of our masterminds in the blog world give me a new idea. So what started as blah to me white is beautiful in many kitchens but not this one it just did not have my personality yet which I will say is not boring at all quite colorful and never ending.....
So these are the pics I took right before we bought the house and after a lot of time, thought and my hubby and his back breaking work .
See her below...........
I first fell in love with black cabinetry then it was the beautiful farm house sink that caught my eye and she was a steal at only $317.00 for an undermount stainless steel sink is a crazy deal. I wanted my sink to be a focus point so I ripped out the cabinet above the sink which did cover up part of the window... hello builder what where you thinking???
Then my passion for open cabinets, bead board and wooden brackets which it great when you tell your hubby what you want and an hour later he walks in the house it built......he's my idol. Jason rebuilt this cabinet and added my bead board behind and on both sides
Then came the wall where we had the frig once we moved it in it stuck out so far in the kitchen I told Jason I wanted to make it look more built in so we took the air return from the floor and had it moved up to the ceiling, ripped half the wall out and moved the frig in. I had this idea of a new wall of lower cabinets and raw cedar shelfs with these corbels me and Jason dreamed up at 2 in the morning. Chrismas is at my house every year and I wanted a drink station seperate from the bar where we always serve the food keeps everyone from stepping on each other. So once again Jason went out and built new cabinets that matched what we already had and Voila! Here she is in all her glory she makes me smile each time I walk into the house.
